{"id":13070,"date":"2019-05-15T14:00:28","date_gmt":"2019-05-15T14:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nuovo.letamerici.it\/livorno-la-piccola-venezia\/"},"modified":"2021-04-12T10:54:37","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T08:54:37","slug":"livorno-the-little-venice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.letamerici.it\/en\/livorno-the-little-venice\/","title":{"rendered":"Livorno \u2013 the little Venice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Livorno<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> is located on the beautiful Tuscan coast, was born in the <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>sixteenth<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>century<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> right on the sea for commercial trades of the Medici and became one of the main ports of Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"it-IT\">Even today it is a place rich in <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>history<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>charm<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, a <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>city attached to<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>the<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>sea<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> from its roots that contain <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>traditions<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>stories<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>aromas<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>flavors<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"it-IT\">One of the most characteristic and well-known districts of Livorno is the <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>neighborhood<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Venezia<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, this district is the historic center of Livorno, even if it does not coincide with the original historic center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It was created in <b>1700<\/b> to facilitate the transport of goods to the port; in fact, it is characterized by <b>bridges<\/b>, <b>canals<\/b> and <b>squares<\/b> that bring to mind the beautiful <b>Venice<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This neighborhood is the only one that has not been destroyed by bombing during the Second World War, so you can still find the <b>ancient<\/b> and <b>sumptuous<\/b> <b>palaces<\/b> of the merchants of the time in which, on the ground floor, the <b>warehouses<\/b> were located.
